Michael Reed studied at the Royal College of Music in London (Tagore Gold Medal winner). He has conducted over twenty West End Musicals including Phantom of the Opera; Barnum; On the Twentieth Century; Aspects of Love; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreeamcoat; Whistle Down the Wind; Mr Cinders; Singin’ in the Rain; Sunset Boulevard (ENO London Coliseum with Glenn Close). He was International Musical Supervisor for many of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals and conducted his 50th Birthday Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. International credits include: Tanz der Vampire (directed by Roman Polanski); Die Drei Musketiere; Ich war noch niemals in New York and I am from Austria (Vienna). Now working on the English version of Charley, originally written with Jon van Eerd and performed in Holland; and Black Venus with James MacManus. Currently Musical Supervisor and Arranger for Bat out of Hell worldwide.
Michael has been a guest conductor with most of the leading orchestras in the UK in particular the Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony and the BBC Concert orchestras. Also a frequent contributor for BBC Radio Two, Michael conducted many of the BBC Radio 2 complete musical recordings including Guys and Dolls, A Little Night Music and Jesus Christ Superstar. In 2008 Michael conducted the BBC Concert Orchestra and students from the BRIT School in a special concert on BBC Radio2 live from the Mermaid Theatre London.
